They are certainly still capable of beating races above them, particularly SM, Chaos, Orks and IG, but it's an uphill battle to do so. They've gone from the most powerful race in the game in DC to be towards the bottom in SS. Head to head, these two races are really hard to separate.in fact I'd go as far to say it's the most balanced matchup in the game.

Up against Tau, Eldar or IG though it's almost an impossible climb, though Chaos does seem to fare a little better. Both have a hard time against Orks and DE, but can at least stay competitive with them and perhaps win if the opponent makes mistakes. In a head to head, DE has the distinct advantage in tier 1 and tier 2, but then the pendulum swings and Orks have the advantage in tier 3 and tier 4, so it's pretty difficult to separate them.Īnother position I believe to be tied. IG are ridiculously strong when played to their full potential. Eldar's only bad matchup seems to be Tau, although when played well they can certainly stay competitive.
